Welcome to the beginning of my first online dream blog. I used to keep a dream journal in a ratty old notebook, but since I spend so much time at the computer from the moment I wake up and at various points throughout my day, I figured a dream blog would be more useful or make more sense. Lately, I've been having a lot of very strange dreams, and decoding them has shown some really interesting results that definitely fit my current situation. I just felt like I needed a place to keep track of all this information. So, here we are. I'll start with the most recent dream I had, which was just a couple of hours ago...
I found myself in a small bakery. I was with my in-laws, and they apparently owned & ran the bakery, in the dream (how random, right?).. They were opening it up, but were getting ready to leave on some sort of vacation. I was supposed to not only work in this bakery/restaurant/whatever it was, but I was supposed to take care of Shelby and Matt (who were apparently home, which was a short walk away, still sleeping) while they were gone. So like, after they left, I realized this business was actually much bigger than I thought it was at first. It was a full restaurant, and all of a sudden it had become completely packed with people. Including staff. I felt all awkward; nobody told me what I was supposed to be doing, so I stood around confused, looking for someone to help me figure out what to do. I remember I saw a big pretzel in the bakery part, and I really wanted it!! I have an obsession with those things apparently. Anyway, I went toward the back of the restaurant and found this guy that somehow knew me, and was like the only friendly person on the staff. His name was Thomas. I started to ask him what I should do, and he gave me this weird little black bucket with what looked like dirty water and towels in it, and pointed to a row of 3 strange-looking washing machines. I said something like, "okay, but I don't know how to use these, so you'll have to show me." He gave me these weird rubber gloves that I put on. They weren't the type of rubber gloves you think of when you think "rubber gloves." They were black rubber. In front of these machines was some kind of long rubber tube that ran straight across. It seemed that these machines worked by pumping the tubes with your hands. They sucked the water in and out of the machines, back and forth through the tubes, to get the materials clean. It was really weird, but kind of cool, because it didn't take any electricity. So, Thomas showed me how it worked, and together we were pumping the tubes, sloshing the water through the machines, but what was really weird was, while I was doing this, I felt like I couldn't breathe. Like there was something that connected the rubber to my mind that made me feel like I was drowning. After a few moments of this, I went to do something else, in another building. I don't really know what it was I was doing, or how I got there even, but all of a sudden Shelly came in, and was yelling at me for leaving the restaurant I was supposed to be taking care of. I was yelling back that she didn't know what happened, and I didn't know what I was doing there anyway because nobody'd told me what to do exactly, and then when we were done talking all this out, I realized my right hand was still bothering me from what I was doing on that weird washing machine. I still had the gloves on, so I peeled them off, which seemed to take forever. When I got the glove off the right hand my fingers were numb but hurting at the same time, and were hanging there limp like there were no bones in the tips of them. I was screaming and crying in pain and asking Shelly to take me to the hospital, but though she was worried she was on the phone with Larry at this point and was explaining why she was taking so long but gave no indication that she was going to take me to the hospital because their vacation was more important. I was so grossed out by the sight of my fingers as they were that I got sick and I threw up on the ground right there, and it was nothing but blood. It was just after this that I woke up.

So, now for the things that the dream dictionary on dreammoods.com uncovered about this dream, for me. I only looked up the things that were the most vividly remembered, so here they are...
- To see a pretzel in your dream, symbolizes devotion and life's sweet rewards. You are embracing life and extending yourself to help others. Alternatively, it may indicate that you are preoccupied with some complex issue and are not sure how to handle it.
- To see or use a washing machine in your dream, suggests that you need to resolve past issues and old problems in order to make a clean start for yourself.
- To see rubber in your dream, represents your adaptability and versatility to various situations.
- To dream that you are drowning, indicates that you are feeling overwhelmed by emotions or repressed issues that are coming back to haunt you. You may be proceeding too quickly in trying to discover your unconscious thoughts. You should proceed more cautiously and slowly.
- To dream that your fingers are injured or have been chopped off, denotes your anxieties about your ability to accomplish some demanding task or perform in some waking situation.
- To dream of broken bones, signifies that you have discovered or realized that there is a weakness in your plans or in your thinking. Your dream may call for your immediate attention to a particular situation or relationship. (I don't know if this one counts, since technically it wasn't as though the bones were broken, more that they weren't there at all.)
- To see blood in your dream, represents life, love, and passion as well as disappointments.
- To dream that you are bleeding or losing blood, signifies that you are suffering from exhaustion or that you are feeling emotionally drained. It may also denote bitter confrontations between you and your friends. Your past actions has come back to haunt you.
...Fascinating, isn't it?
